Mami Hasegawa

New hand hammered metalware has arrived from Japan! Mami Hasegawa continues her family's distinguished legacy of traditional tea ceremony metalwork, creating objects with a natural softness and warmth. Most notably, this latest shipment includes a collection of brass spoons adorned with illustrations of various animals as well as jewellery pendants depicting the symbols of astrological signs.

“My ideas are shaped through my vision of ancient times. I imagine Egypt and the Islamic Middle East in the year 3000 BC. During that time, the skills, techniques, arts and the beauty of craftsmanship passed through the Silk Road by nomads…”

New Works: Ronan Sean-Ross Stewart

We also have new arrivals from Toronto-based artist Ronan Sean-Ross Stewart. Through forms of painting, drawing and sculpture Stewart examines physiological, interpersonal, parental and social relationships. The use and application of materials are based in both personal and materiality history, exploring the interwoven circumstances of life and chance that contextualize memory, place and time.
