Mjölk Products Made in Canada

Over the years we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with both Canadian and international designers to create products that we can manufacture locally here in Ontario. We have also been fortunate to assemble a team of talented craftspeople that make this possible. This newsletter includes a list of some favourite pieces we are proud to say are Canadian made!

The Mjölk Arm Sofa distills the traditional sofa down to its essential elements: a solid wood frame for support, combined with a blend of webbing, foam, and down for comfort. The design reflects a focus on reduced lines and shapes, with its archetypal composition embracing the enduring appeal of classic, honest forms. Available in a wide variety of fabrics with either an oak or walnut frame. The frame is made locally in Stratford, Ontario while the cushions are made in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Mjölk Coffee Table by Thom Fougere is a continuation of our exclusive line of furniture. Archetypal in form, it is a study in reducing the table to its essentials: a floating slab of limestone atop a wooden frame of intersecting planes. Its simplicity and bold clarity of construction emphasizes strong horizontal lines articulated with fine details. Available in either stone top or solid wood, with the option of either oak or walnut. Made in Ontario.

The Mjölk Tambour Credenza by Thom Fougere. Constructed of solid oak or walnut, the cabinet features sliding tambour doors which wrap entirely around the back. A gap between the doors and frame allows one to see straight through, appreciating the sliding doors as a tectonic and mechanical phenomenon delaminated from the cabinet’s structure — the radius of their curve as it rounds the corner; their tactile and auditory experience. Handmade in Stratford, Ontario.

Calligraphy Desk

Originally designed for the living room of John & Juli, this sculptural writing desk features a rounded top, solid-wood construction, and a single pen drawer. Available in white oak or walnut. Handmade in Ontario.

Another one of our most loved in-house designs is the Savoy Dining Table. Constructed of solid wood with gently rounded proportions, this streamlined table makes a compliment to any contemporary dining setting. It is available in douglas-fir, white oak, oiled oak or walnut and has the ability to be customized upon request. Handmade in Toronto.

Pictured above is the Enfield Shaker Dining Table. Designed again by us and produced locally in Toronto, this table is inspired by the forms and sensibilities of Shaker furniture. In all Shaker communities, everything created was made to be used and sometimes the same item was used for various different tasks.

The Enfield Shaker Bench was made as a companion piece for the table, though it can hold its own next to all of our available dining tables. We love this piece for hosting large dinner parties or for piling in the little ones around for a family meal.

Diamond Pendant Lamp

Designed by Oji Masanori for Mjölk, the Diamond Pendant Lamp was conceived with Toronto in mind. Made of simple shapes that share subtle details of quality, form and materials, this light hangs beautifully in any room. All components are handcrafted in Ontario.

Pictured underneath the Diamond Pendant is our dining table designed by Omar Gandhi Architects. The design aims to highlight the rich beauty of natural wood: a solid top made of three hand-selected wood slabs, complete with a slanted edge around the entire table to accommodate working from home.

Mjölk Made Accessories

We are also proud to highlight some smaller products and accessories made locally. Most notably is our Fire Tools series made in collaboration with Thom Fougere. Pictured above are the Blackened Fire Tools at the farmhouse and below is the complimenting Firewood Hutch. Both are made here in Toronto.

Many of our other Mjölk accessories including the Mjölk Wall Vase, Earth & Moon Cutting Board and the Mjölk Guitar Stand are also made locally by our incredible team of craftsman. Our Mjölk Books and vinyl records by John Baker are also printed in Canada.
